SIM Swap Sally doesn’t break down doors. She steals the key off your belt. With a smooth tongue and a stolen detail or two, she gets your mobile number moved to her SIM and turns your “security texts” into her own personal master keys. Once she’s got your number, she can reset passwords, hijack accounts, and leave you locked out while she rides off with the lot.
SIM swapping happens when a criminal tricks a mobile provider into transferring your phone number to a SIM they control. Your phone may suddenly lose signal, and from that moment the outlaw can receive your calls and text messages. If your accounts use SMS verification codes, she can intercept them, reset passwords, and take over email and other accounts. Email is the real prize because it lets her reset everything else.
